Laconic Japanese Newspapers
Every two weeks or so, I have private japanese lessons with this volunteer japanese gentleman. Maybe “private lessons” is a stretch, since all we do is to pick some newspaper and then he helps me read some articles, explaining kanji use and grammar as we go along.
So today I have another of these meetings, and due to my completely fucked up schedule, I didn’t manage to buy a newspaper. So I decide to print some articles from the online versions of the main japanese newspapers.
However, when I go to the Asahi, Mainichi and Yomiuri pages, all that I can get are VERY brief one or two paragraph news summary - as opposed to more full fledge articles you would find in a journal. Since I’m not one to turn to “default” new sources, at first I imagined that all traditional newspapers were doing that now - putting crippled versions of news into their webpages.
So I went to check O Estado de Sao Paulo (Brazil), The New York Times (US) and The Herald (UK), and, sure enough, all of them gave me full fledged articles when I clicked in their main news.

*sigh* … eu tou tendo estas “conversas” há pelo menos 4 meses, o que é mais da metade do tempo que eu e ele estamos juntos.
Simplesmente não funciona. Ele parece não ver a diferença entre acordar entre beijos e declarações de amor e simplesmente abrir os olhos, dar um beijinho estalado na testa, levantar e ir cuidar das plantas no jardim. Ele simplesmente não percebe que temos conceitos diferentes do que é “estar apaixonado”. E, se ele não vê esta diferença, fica difícil tentar chegar a um consenso.
A questão é que pra mim o amor é como uma plantinha que precisa ser regada regularmente por ambos. Eu reguei a plantinha sozinha o tempo todo, e ele nunca vê isso, embora eu já tenha dito 56475692864589264 de vezes.
Que merda, Claus. Eu já tou tão cansada de tentar, tentar, e nunca dá certo.
Tem horas que dá mesmo vontade de desistir de vez. :’-(

Mainichi seems to have more or less full articles see for example

Thanks, Auberginefleur. Well, that is certainly longer than the examples I was looking for, but I still would consider it a brief article.
