Picture backlog - some new pictures!

Wednesday, August 16th, 2006

Here are just a few of the pictures in my backlog - rest assured, there are many more to come! Of course, it would help immensely if I got out of my lazy ass and fixed the display in the photo album that sort pictures alphabetically, and not in the order they were most recently added - but I digress:

*1* - A trip to the past:

These pictures were from one of the many small parties we hold from time to time at my place. This one must be from late april. Saito-san showed us how to do the demon dance that japanese people do when they’re drunken in nomikais.

*2* - Cooking!

These are the pictures of the preparation - cooking for traditional food - for the June Brazillian Party at the Komaba Dormitory. The party pictures themselves should be up in the next update.

*3* and *4* - Bianca in Tokyo

Bianca, Denise’s sister, who lives in Oosaka, came to visit us here in Tokyo, and there was much rejoicing. Among this rejoicing we went to an all-you-can-eat pizza place, and Tokyo Dome, an amusement park.

Tea Ceremony at Kibantou

Monday, December 5th, 2005

This friday there was a small gathering of international students of the Interdisciplinary Sciences Institute, at the Kashiwa campus. Actually, only a few of the Intl students attended, but that made the meeting all the more fun. Without further ado, here are the pictures.

10 minutes time out.

Just a quick rest…

  1. If you want to plot mathematical functions in linux, you use gnuplot.
  2. But if you want to calculate and plot a time-series function, you need to use octave (which uses gnuplot).
  3. And if you want to output the plotting to a file, you need to use the low level command gset (and get an ugly warning on your face)

  4. octave:n>gset terminal png
    octave:n+1>gset output "filename"
    octave:n+2>plot (your momma)

  5. And, finally, if you want to see a baka gaijin performing a Jikishin kageryuu kata on the Waseda Culture Festival, you follow this link

Also, there is a new album in my photo album - pictures of Denise Birthday, way overdue. Feel free to look for it.
