About Me
Hi, my name is Claus!
About this Website
I started blogging in... 1999 I think? This site has existed in some shape or form since then, although it has changed many times over the years (sorry for all the broken links).
This site has come a long way. First it was just a collection of hand-made htmls in my university account; then a bunch of hand-made php files in a server in my living room; then I moved to blogspot briefly, before moving to a wordpress site; and now back to html files, made with eleventy.
cat /proc/claus was a name I came up with around 2003, I think? When I was really getting into Linux. Maybe the name is kinda cringe now, but I still remember that time fondly.
Anyway, blogging is cool, and you should do it too!
Who am I?
I'm a X-gen Brazilian living in Japan. I'm a computer / TRPG / video game nerd. I like cats, spiders, zombie, and space and cute things. Sometimes I make small computer games for fun.
Being an old nerd, I have strong opinions about technology, politics, tech politics, and what the word "Roguelike" means. That said, my strongest opinion is probably that people should live however they like, if they're not hurting others. So come at me with your bad opinions about emacs/vi, I won't bite.
I work at the University of Tsukuba, where I teach computer science and research Evolutionary Computation. I try to avoid bringing work to this site these days, but sometimes I slip.
