First Cold Day

Today was the first day I really felt cold outside. It was raining on and off, never too strong, but even with a good coat on I was feeling the cold sapping in. Yesterday rained pretty hard in Tokyo, and it was quite windy, so the leaves in Tokyo University had all fallen down. Many trees along the way are starting to look yellowish – although I had this impression that the Koyou (reddening of leaves in japan) usually started earlier.

I read today on Grognard’s blog (a nice blog which often touches the subject of old school RPGs) an interesting thought on the paradox about people liking the autumn season, when autumn is a time when things are dying away. While I see his point, I think there is much more about fall than just plants dying. For one, fall is also the time of harvest, when the fruits of the work from summer and spring fully come out. Another thing is that our brains are attracted by two things: Patterns and change – and autumn is a season where big changes are taking place everywhere.

Anyway, the discordian spirit has spoken to my years, and to celebrate the first truly cold day in the world, I’m going out with some friends wearing a Hawaiian shirt! Take this, fall! :-P

On other bizarre news, today a friend of mine, while saying I was a good person, compared me to Michael Jackson O.o! That must have been the weirdest compliment I have ever received! :-D
